Just above Karama is Suye Hill Forest. It is a protected area of indigenous forest, which at the moment is changing its status into National Reserve. We are pleased to say that Karama assists the Arusha Municipal Council in the protection of this area by sponsoring anti-poaching rangers – ensuring that this natural beauty is around for years to come. Our security guards patrol daily in the forest, in order to stop people from cutting the trees and building illegally. You can take a walk to the top of Suye Hill through the forest reserve and further down to Kimandolu village. It takes about 35 – 40 minutes to get to the top of the hill and 20 minutes or so to come down in a medium pace. Many species of bird are seen in the early morning and small animals occasionally to be seen like: Dik Dik, Squirrels, Guinea fowl, and Monkeys.
Enjoy a romantic, peaceful picnic on the top of the hill with a bottle of wine of your choice and some snacks. Please contact the reception in advance. We will arrange a guide to walk with you. Price for 2 people: $45 The price varies if you choose other drinks; for more information contact our staff.
